Paris Sleeps"Does anybody else know about the Protocol?"  Dellenbach is nervous, fidgeting.  Outside the window Paris is dark and frigid.  The City of Light is an ugly echo of its former self.  People are afraid.  You're afraid.  Turning my attention back to Dellenbach, I tell him not to worry. Memories of Primary SchoolI remember.  This is five years ago. Standing on our school field.  I remember how hot the sun was, how its heat seemed to pervade everything.   
We're making markers. Measuring the distances between the planets.  We get to Mars before we have to stop.  This particular lesson we're supposed to learn has got to do with the vastness of space, about how it's all huge and empty, and how insignificant we are compared to it.   
I don't know why. Why I remember it. I just do.
